JennRide 2024
A Fatbike Adventure at JennRide: The Ultimate May Bank Holiday Experience
Imagine kicking off your May bank holiday weekend with a thrilling Fatbike adventure at the annual JennRide event in the South Lakes. That’s exactly what four of us did, meeting in Staveley on Friday evening, eager for an early Saturday start.
Our route took us westward, all the way to Santon Bridge. We pedaled through Hawkshead and alongside the serene Coniston Water, with a lunch stop in Torver. Refueled, we continued to Seathwaite, pausing at the Newfield Inn for a quick snack. From there, we journeyed through Eskdale to Santon Bridge, onward to Wasdale Head for an awful veggie burger, and up to Burnmoor Tarn. We wrapped up our day with an overnight bivvy under a tree in Boot and a drink an Boot Inn.
Sunday’s adventure began at 6 am with a challenging climb up Hardknott Pass and Wrynose Pass, taking us through Little Langdale, Sawyer Wood, Elterwater, and Loughrigg Tarn. We stopped for breakfast in Ambleside at the slightly overpriced Esquires, then continued our journey through Troutbeck and Kentmere, eventually circling back to Staveley.
The weekend was brilliant, filled with sunshine on Saturday and a touch of rain on Sunday that never dampened our spirits. We loved every moment of it and can’t wait for next year.
A big thanks to Rich Munro for organising and creating the route and all the bike packers we cycled with.
