Hi, I’m San, and The Indian Fire Trail is where I share my passion for bikes, adventure, coffee, and the great outdoors.
My love of cycling started long before bikepacking bags, GPS devices, and carbon frames. Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, my first bike was a Bluebell. Not long after came a Commodore three-speed, which I shared with my brother. There was just one problem—we both wanted to ride it.
The rule was simple: whoever got up first got the bike for the day.
Needless to say, there were plenty of early mornings.
Those rides taught me something I’ve carried ever since: a bike means freedom. Freedom to explore, freedom to disappear for a few hours, and freedom to discover what’s around the next corner.
Fast forward a few decades, and not much has changed.
Today, you’ll find me mountain biking, bikepacking, fat biking, riding single-speed, and chasing adventures wherever the trail leads. Sometimes I ride solo, enjoying the peace and simplicity that only a long day on the bike can bring. Other times, I’m riding with friends, sharing trails, stories, laughs, and the occasional mechanical mishap.
The Indian Fire Trail is my place to document those adventures. It’s where I share ride reports, bikepacking journeys, trail discoveries, gear thoughts, and stories from life on two wheels.
This isn’t about racing or taking things too seriously. It’s about the people you meet, the places you discover, the challenges you overcome, and those unforgettable moments along the way. Watching the sun rise from a tent. Sleeping under a sky full of stars. Finding a trail you’ve never ridden before. And, of course, stopping for a great coffee—because every ride deserves one.
Whether it’s a quick local loop, an all-day epic, or a multi-day bikepacking adventure, the goal is always the same: get outside, explore, and enjoy the journey.
The bikes may have changed since that old Bluebell and Commodore, but the feeling is exactly the same.
Ride further. Drink good coffee. Share the story.
See you on the trail.
