THE AWESOMENESS OF MOUNTAIN BIKING #MTB
Being out there up in the hills with no cars and no sound is one of the best feelings you can experience. The solitude is beyond words.
My adventures/rides on the mountain bike are why I’m leaving the roadie action to the shaved leg brigade. I wasn’t too keen on the idea of having to Gillette Gel my legs every week!
This year will see me focus only on #mtb and this includes trying to avoid all roads, unless of course I need to cross one to get back on a bridleway.
10 Under the Ben, The Crossing, The Manx100 and Tour De Ben Nevis are events that have been booked and ready for me to ride. Breakers and BBB will be joining me on 10 Under the Ben and Tour De Ben Nevis so that will be fun riding with my mates.
Training has gone well so far this year climbing over 50,000 feet, all on the Van Nicolas #Zion 29er Titanium which is my winter mountain bike.
I’ve just upgraded the Salsa Spearfish with #RS1 forks and #XTR brakes which have now made Spearfish the bike of choice. Really looking forward to the long summer nights when it’s just me and the Spearfish heading out to places old and new.
I have explored and found more local trails this winter so really excited about the thought of riding them in the summer. It’s amazing just how many trails there are within Calderdale, you can easily do two fifty mile mtb days without touching the same trails. Something my friend from Norway, Hans Kruger, will be doing when he pops over in April/May.
One of the rides I’m planning is a Friday evening trip from Altham- Lancashire to Gisburn Forest via the RED route followed by an overnight stay at the Dog and Partridge and in the morning a ride back along the Pennine Bridleway to Halifax.
The Yak Attack is now planned for 2016 and Weaverville is definitely a non starter as logistically and financially to try and do it solo doesn’t make any sense.
Sri Lanka June 2016 Yak Attack is a 4 day stage race which is more my sort of thing.
