Off-Road Adventure to Watch the Mountain Bike Race at Tong Village

A ride along an off-road route to watch the professionals race mountain bikes around a purpose-built course at Tong Village in Bradford was just what you need on a dry, warm Sunday. Our route to get there started in Halifax and took us through Brighouse, Heckmondwike, Gomersal, Oakwell Hall, Driglington, and finally to Tong, where we would watch the race.

We found an excellent spot at the most technical part of the course, a challenging descent impressively ridden by those who opted for the A line. After a few hours of spectating, we enjoyed some coffee. I even bought a T-shirt from the Gritty stall, and the good people at Torq Energy gave me a hydration drink to try.

Having soaked up the excitement of the race, and a bit of socialising we traced our route back to Halifax. A good 34 miles of singlespeeding was just the job for a Sunday.
